David Sater is a writer (mythographer) & visual artist (drawing / printmaking / books), experimental filmmaker, & aspiring alchemist
currently dividing his time between upstate new york & oaxaca mexico.
He is the chymical author of the forthcoming Hum, or, The Breathing Stone - an illuminated novel,
in the style (inflectedly) of the old alchemical emblem books, set in a sanatorium.
He is also working on a novella published in shards (risograph) based on an ancient persian magus :
The Invisible Well, or, Osthanes & the island of golden toxins
(set on an alchemical orphan ship, captained by a witch with her long beard - along with a blue crab Estragon who reads the kids stories & does some tutoring, a french teen with the head of a dog, & a medieval clown with bird talons for feet who sleeps under the table & is often grumpy.. etc.) having to do with chinese alchemy - the first volume of which The Cinnabar Kid is for sale (Send an email ?! or reaching out on IG)
he has a forthecoming on a book of philosophical & esoteric essays & poems called The Artifex & the Snail, or the archaeus of water from The Serpent of Language. - via NEW press.
his last two exhibitions were in mexico, El Caracol Filosofico at NN Galeria, & Almuerzo de la Sapo Lunar at La Caverna in oaxaca
He runs the imprint Polycephalos Press : polycephalospress.com
& the Imago reading series (which has vested interest in the magico-poetic)
D studied literature, art, ancient mythologies & experimental film at Bard College.
